XING New Work Award 2018

The coveted award for future-oriented ways of working was presented for the fifth time. This year there were three winners in the “New Worker” category. They included Michael O. Schmutzer, our CEO and founder. We are incredibly proud of this achievement, which confirms the vision, impact and expertise with which he has shaped new work in a huge way. The award was presented at the New Work Experience 2018 at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie concert hall. See a brief profile of all the winners in the short clip: New Worker 2018

NWX18: 12 stages, over 80 speakers and a programme lasting more than 40 hours

The New Work Experience, an initiative from XING, was held for a second time in spectacular fashion: After its successful launch in 2017, the largest conference on the future of work in the German-speaking world took place again on 6 March 2018 in Hamburg. As the New Work Space partner, Design Offices got to convert the Prototyp Museum into a place of meeting, exchange and networking with our working landscapes.

Nearly 1,500 guests from science, the start-up scene, large corporations and the New Work movement gathered to share ideas about the new approach to work. They experienced new work first-hand, engaged in discussion with pioneering thinkers and obtained invaluable practical ideas through inspirational stories.

The morning programme in the impressive setting of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall brought together a vast array of expertise on new work. The speakers included: The philosopher Richard David Precht, who inspired the audience with a sensational keynote speech on the digital revolution and Janina Kugel, Chief Human Resources Office and member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, who put people at the heart of the new work ethos. Others included Thomas Sattelberger (member of the Bundestag, publicist and patron of the New Work Award) and Götz Werner (dm founder). The young violinist Ji-Hae Park captivated guests with her remarkable piano performance.

During the afternoon, various sessions, workshops and presentations were held at exciting locations in Hamburg’s HafenCity. There was enough time in-between for lively discussion. On two floors and with a networking lounge, the Business Punk Aftershow-Party was the perfect venue for rounding off a fantastic day.

We were delighted to take part in the inspirational New Work Events again this year.
